Caroline Pignat

Caroline Pignat, born in Dublin and raised in Ottawa, graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religious Studies. It was after working with children and youth for over fifteen years in roles such as teacher, seminar facilitator, mentor and coach, that she began her writing career. Now, in addition to writing, Caroline teaches grade 12 Writer's Craft and grade 11 English in Ottawa. She lives in Kanata with her husband, Tony, and their children, Liam and Marion.

Her fiction, non-fiction and poetry for children regularly appear in Highlights for Children, Guideposts for Kids, Living Faith for Kids, and Clubhouse Magazine. Caroline's humour columns for adults are published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, The Vancouver Sun, and The Ottawa Citizen. Her first YA novel, Egghead (Red Deer Press, 2007), was the winner of the 2009 Red Maple Book Award, and appeared on numerous shortlists. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Governor General's Literary Award for the first book in her Greener Grass series, Greener Grass (Red Deer Press, 2008).

Caroline has won the 2015 Governor General's Literary Award for The Gospel Truth, her second GG win.
